since i thought last year's lj seder was fun, i'm going to try to do it again this year. i've reserved the community name e_seder for this purpose, and y'all should join. i'm also looking for a second person to serve in an administrative role, since conversation will probably be ongoing during the period when i'm over the Atlantic without internet.

i'll try to start posting appropriate links (mostly to haggadot available online) over there shortly.

The problem with Pesach is that it's every year. I think I'd like it a lot better if it were every five years. Then I might be able to come up with new things to say each time. Also I might hate matzah less.

This made me think about how I'm going to two Seders this year--my parents always host a first Seder, and their friends rotate who hosts a second Seder (some years there's even a third one if extra people want turns hosting). And I was making the distinction about how these weren't online Seders, unlike last year where I only did the online Seder.

The upshot is apparently in my mind the opposite of "online" is "brick-and-mortar" so I was thinking about how I'd be going to two brick-and-mortar Seders this year.

Is this meant to be a real-time virual sedar or ? I'm going to be on-call during what might otherwise be sedar night and am trying to figure out matzoh balls and trimmings in the NICU. . . it's unlikely I could commit to being online during the whole thing.

Seder at livejournal-comment-thread speed, so takes it generally takes a number of days to get all the way through it, and missing long stretches doesn't exclude participation.

this is how it went last year. it doesn't need to be the same this year, so if you're interested in a different pace or tone you're welcome to try to steer things in that direction, at least up to a certain point.

Missing long stretches sounds about my speed. . . I've made my peace with being on call for much of Passover by mentally returning to it's roots as a nomadic celebration. If I'm celebrating eating on the run through the deserts of Egypt, nibbling on matozh between babies seems more apropos and less disruptive.

I'm late to the party, but I'll join up. If you need another mod for like, next year or whatever, I'm up for it.
